Torus is a youth-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in late 2023 in West Windsor, New Jersey, dedicated to eliminating food waste through free community composting. By transforming food scraps into soil resources, Torus reduces greenhouse gas emissions. In under two years, it has served over 500 households and businesses, diverted 200,000+ pounds of waste, and prevented 760,000+ pounds of annual CO2 emissions. Funded by grants and donations exceeding $100,000 from partners like Walmart and Google, Torus offers free pickups, education, and partnerships with food banks. Expanding municipal collaborations, including West Windsor drop-off sites, Torus aims to make composting mainstream across New Jersey and beyond.
