Free composting in NJ

Your resource for free composting in NJ.

If you are looking for an easy, cost-free way to shrink your environmental footprint, you are in the right place. Our mission is to make composting accessible to everyone in New Jersey without the burden of cost. A $10 refundable bucket deposit applies.

How we keep it free

Most curbside compost services charge a monthly fee, and some cost up to $20 per pickup. Torus is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so instead of billing households we cover the cost of buckets, liners, and collection through tax-deductible donations, grants, and community partnerships. That is what lets us keep pickup free for everyone in our service area.

About the $10 bucket deposit

The only upfront amount is a $10 bucket deposit, and it is fully refundable. It is a small show of commitment that helps us make sure every bucket we deliver actually gets used. Beyond that, there is no cost to participate.
