Privacy Policy
Last updated August 22, 2026.
Who we are
Torus is operated by Tours Ai Inc., a New Jersey nonprofit organization. In this policy, “Torus,” “we,” and “our” refer to Tours Ai Inc. This policy applies to information processed through torusai.org and the services linked from it. It does not replace the separate privacy terms of an outside service that you choose to use.
Information we process
We process information you submit through signup, volunteer, community, contact, and similar forms. The requested fields may include your name, email address, phone number, service address, service preferences, availability, or message. If you donate, Stripe provides Torus with transaction details needed for receipts, accounting, fraud prevention, and donor records. Torus does not receive or store your complete payment card number through this website.
The site also processes usage information such as pages viewed, referral or campaign source, approximate location, device and browser category, performance measurements, and pseudonymous visitor or session identifiers. Our first-party analytics tables do not store raw IP addresses or complete user-agent strings. Providers that deliver the website or an integration may automatically receive network and device information, including an IP address, when your browser connects to them. Ask Torus processes the question you submit, limited conversation context, and basic service metadata needed to return and maintain the response. Do not submit financial account details, government identification numbers, medical information, or other sensitive information through general forms or Ask Torus.
How we use information
We use information to answer requests, determine service eligibility, provide composting services, coordinate volunteers and community programs, process and document donations, maintain website security, prevent fraud, measure site and campaign performance, improve our programs, comply with law, and protect Torus, its users, and the public. We do not use information submitted through service forms to make decisions about credit, employment, insurance, housing, health care, or other similarly significant matters.
Cookies, local storage, and measurement
Torus uses browser local storage and session storage to assign pseudonymous analytics identifiers, keep a visit together, remember limited Ask Torus context, and prevent duplicate conversion events. Google Analytics and Google Ads may use cookies and similar identifiers to collect usage, approximate location, device, browser, and advertising-measurement information. Torus uses these services to understand site use and measure completed actions from outreach campaigns. Google explains how it processes this information in its Privacy Policy. You can delete site data in your browser, block cookies through browser settings, and use Google’s available analytics or advertising controls. Blocking storage may reduce measurement but should not stop you from reading the public site.
When information is disclosed
We disclose information to service providers that support the purposes above. Current categories include website hosting, security, and infrastructure through Vercel and Cloudflare, database services through Neon, forms, maps, measurement, and advertising services through Google, payment processing through Stripe, and Ask Torus response processing through OpenAI. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful process, investigate misuse, prevent fraud or harm, enforce our rights, or complete an organizational transaction involving responsibility for the relevant records.
Torus does not sell personal information or receive money or other valuable consideration in exchange for disclosing it. Google measurement and advertising tags may receive online identifiers and usage information as described above. Torus currently uses those tags for analytics, attribution, conversion measurement, and operation of its nonprofit advertising campaigns. Torus does not use website visitor lists for remarketing or personalized audiences.
Retention and security
Retention depends on the record and its purpose. Ask Torus exchanges in Torus’s own database are automatically set to expire after 30 days. Service providers may maintain separate security or processing records under their own terms and retention policies. Temporary Torus security and rate-limit records expire after their applicable protection window. Service, volunteer, donation, accounting, and communication records may be retained while needed to provide the service, maintain accurate nonprofit records, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or prevent abuse. Pseudonymous or aggregated analytics may be retained for historical reporting. Torus uses access controls, encryption in transit, validation, rate limits, and data minimization, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.
Children
The website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. Children under 13 should not submit personal information through the site or Ask Torus. A parent or guardian should make any service inquiry for a child. If you believe a child under 13 submitted personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Your choices and requests
You may choose not to submit an optional form, clear browser storage, adjust cookie settings, or stop using Ask Torus. You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information you provided directly to Torus, or exercise another privacy right available under applicable law. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify your identity and locate the relevant record. If applicable law provides an appeal right and we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with the word “Appeal.” These rights may be subject to legal exceptions and record-retention duties.
Changes and contact information
We may revise this policy when our website, providers, or legal obligations change. We will post the revised policy here and change the effective date above. If a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will provide additional notice when required by law.
Privacy requests and questions may be sent to Tours Ai Inc. at torusfoodwaste@gmail.com or 24 Highpoint Pl, West Windsor, NJ 08550.
