Grant partnerships
Partner with Torus for impact.
Torus is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing sustainability and fighting food waste. A grant partnership helps us reach more households and keep composting free across New Jersey.
Who we are
Torus is a West Windsor-based nonprofit focused on reducing food waste and promoting environmental sustainability through composting. Founded in 2023 by four Lawrenceville students, we are a passionate team working to make composting accessible to every household and business. You can learn more about our story.
What we do
- Curbside composting. Free food waste pickup directly from homes and businesses. See where we serve.
- Community engagement. We partner with local organizations and businesses to promote sustainability and reduce environmental impact. Meet our supporters.
Our goals
- Reduce food waste. Roughly a third of food produced is wasted. We want to expand to 10,000 households and divert far more scraps from landfills.
- Lower emissions. By diverting food waste, we aim to prevent about 1,000,000 pounds of CO2e emissions per year as we scale.
- Promote sustainability. We educate communities about composting and sustainable living through our programs and partnerships.
- Expand our impact. With more funding we can reach underserved areas and grow our outreach.
How your grant helps
- Operational capacity. Expand our service areas and improve our composting infrastructure.
- Community outreach. Build more educational programs to engage more households.
- Stronger partnerships. Forge new collaborations with local businesses and sustainability organizations.
